In July 2021, we became the first organization to propose a food waste collection system funded by the Recycling Fund, approved by the Environmental Protection Department. This innovative initiative aims to tackle the pressing issue of food waste disposal in our city.
Our solution features a smart bin designed specifically for food waste disposal. To activate the bin, users must utilize the government app GREEN$ to generate a personal QR code. Once activated, the smart bin weighs the disposed food waste and sends this data back to the government data center for credit calculation.
The data collected will be used to reward users based on the amount of food waste they dispose of. Users can redeem their accumulated credits for various items offered by the government through an automated machine. This incentivizes responsible disposal practices and encourages community participation in reducing food waste.Addressing Household Food. Households contribute to approximately two-thirds of the food waste generated in our city. The introduction of this smart bin is a crucial step toward promoting proper disposal methods among residents. Once collected, the food waste will be transported to dedicated processing plants where it will be converted into compost and biogas.
